Fall Fundraiser Film Screening:
Paint Me a Road Out of Here

Saturday, September 20, 2025
4:00 PM | Philipstown Depot Theatre
6:00–7:00 PM | Garrison Art Center Galleries

Join Garrison Art Center for a powerful afternoon of art, film, and community in support of our mission to make art accessible to all.

We are excited to announce a special screening of “Paint Me a Road Out of Here”, an award-winning documentary featuring artists Faith Ringgold and Mary Enoch Elizabeth Baxter. This film uncovers the overlooked history of Faith's masterpiece, "For the Women's House," and follows its 50-year journey from Rikers Island to the Brooklyn Museum. It presents a poignant, humorous, and true narrative that advocates for a world without mass incarceration.

After the screening, join us for an engaging Q&A led by Emmy Award winner and GAC Artist Alex Garcia, alongside the film’s producer, Emmy Award winner and GAC alumni Arielle Amsalem, who will share insights into the documentary's creation and the ongoing work it inspires.

Then, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, join us just across the way at Garrison Art Center for a festive reception in our galleries. Enjoy refreshments, an art exhibition, and a chance to connect with fellow supporters of the arts.  Two new painting exhibitions: landscapes by Thomas Sarrantonio and portraits by Elizabeth DeBethune will be on display.

Tickets: $50
All proceeds directly support Garrison Art Center’s exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives.

Don’t miss this moving event and opportunity to support creativity as a path to change.
