FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUNDING

Garrison Art Center's Sources of Financial Assistance:

Donor-Funded Financial Assistance

We believe art should be accessible to all. So far this year, donors like you contributed $2,500 in need-based financial assistance for art students. Donate here.

The Renee Ulrich Oswald Award

Thanks to a generous yearly contribution from Catherine "Renee" Ulrich Oswald’s legacy, we can give one student a full scholarship to attend Summer Arts on the Hudson.

The Gillette Scholarship Fund

Henry S. Gillette, an accomplished artist, author, teacher, and mentor, was a devoted participant at Garrison Art Center for many years and left a bequest to the Art Center to support the arts education program. Mr. Gillette was recognized throughout his life for his talents in various media, including painting, book illustration, and teaching. Through his legacy, we are able to provide year-round financial assistance.

The Anita Balter Creative Fund

Anita Hart Balter was an artist and writer well known for her role in fostering the arts in the Hudson Valley.

She was on the board of the Garrison Art Center, where she established a Scholarship and Mentor Program in which artists worked with promising local pupils. In 1987 she was a founding board member of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival. Through her legacy, we are able to provide year-round financial assistance.

Endowment Withdrawal

Our endowment was created as a result of several grants and the donations of individuals who established funds in their names. Two of these are The Anita Balter Creative Fund and The Gillette Scholarship Fund.  Each year we withdraw a percentage of our endowment, which is earmarked for financial assistance.

If you are interested in leaving a legacy or establishing a scholarship in your name to provide financial assistance to artists, please contact our Executive Director at Director@garrisonartcenter.org.
