“What we know matters but who we are matters more.”

― Brené Brown

We invite young artists to participate in SITE 2025, centered around the theme, Exploring Identity. This is a chance for students to express themselves through art, sharing how they see themselves, their culture, and their unique experiences. Identity is a mix of qualities, behaviors, and traits that place a person in certain groups. It can be shaped by many things like ethnicity, race, religion, language, or culture. Some parts of our identity are given to us, but others are shaped by the choices we make and the groups we choose to be part of. This exhibition will celebrate the diverse ways in which identity shapes our world. Some artists who explored ideas of identity in their art are Jacob Lawrence, Melesio Casas, Cindy Sherman, Sadie Red Wing, Adrian Piper, Molly Crabapple, Anila Quayyum Agha, Maya Lin, William Wegman, Bisa Butler, Anthony Gormley, Keith Haring, Faith Ringgold, and Marc Chagall.

Image features SITE 2023 artwork from Austin Road Elementary School, Fulmar Road Elementary School, and Lakeview Elementary School
