Going stir crazy? Get out of the house for a fun workshop on Japanese Shibori, an ancient Japanese resist-dye technique that involves manipulating fabric to create amazing patterns by folding, clamping and pole-wrapping fabric.
Shibori is truly fascinating, every piece you dye is a little bit different then the last. Unfolding your fabric is like unwrapping a present as you never know how the dye will penetrate the fabric and the pattern will come out.
We will be dying in indigo, so bring your clothing, pillow cases, dish towels, table runners, canvas bags or fabric! Fiber content should be cotton, rayon, silk, linen or a blend of these. Please don't bring anything too large like a blanket as dye pot may not be big enough. Students should bring their own lunch and plastic bags to take their dyed fabrics home with them.
