While learning a new tune each week, we will cover basic bowing patterns, scales, a bit of music theory, touch on the history of the music and each tune. Special attention will be given to demonstrate the melody as it relates to the chords that a backup instrument would provide. The goal is to bring all of these bits of fiddle lore together in a way that will help a developing fiddler recognize patterns in the music so that they can more quickly join in the fun of jam sessions. In the subsequent 4 weeks, we would build on what we have learned. Covering a more varied and complex set of tunes and developing second fiddle parts to "back up" the melody fiddler. The class with be adjusted to meet the abilities and needs of the students.
Students must provide their own instruments. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information about instrument rentals.
Full tuition is due at time of registration. You may withdraw from a class and receive a full refund up to two weeks before class begins, or you can send a friend to take your spot (just let us know who to expect!). If we need to cancel a class you will receive a full refund.
