White Peony, 2024, Oil on canvas, 50w x 44h

Throughout her career, Skrzynski’s art delves into the intertwined relationship between humans and nature, using the structural similarities between anatomy and botany to depict the ephemeral qualities of life. Her recent paintings depict common plants in uncommon ways. The woods near her home provide inspiration and a sense of connection to a larger natural system. Observing growth, decay, and rebirth, Skrzynski confronts her mortality and the ephemeral quality of life. Her work emphasizes the natural world's beauty and transience, especially when witnessing the change of seasons evoking a sense of humility and introspection. Skrzynski intends to draw and paint what she observes and how it feels to observe it, depicting what she finds visually compelling in hopes of engaging the viewer with color, form, and light.
