RANDY GIBSON
Infinite Structures
August 13 - September 11, 2022
OPENING RECEPTION: August 13, 5 - 7 PM
Randy Gibson composes with sound, time, light, and space. His work investigates the expressive potential of a set of numerical relationships refined over two decades of working with musicians. Through performances, objects, and installations, Gibson aims to shift the experience of time passing and confronts the edges of perception and memory.
“I am interested in the act of slowing down and in reorienting perception to shift attention toward subtle change,” says Randy. “The works in Infinite Structures explore the possibility of harmonic ratio through visibility and varied modes of complicating the perceptual experience.”
Randy has presented performances and installations at festivals around the world, including the Avant Music Festival in New York City, the Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art in Minnesota, the Nief-Norf Summer Festival in Tennessee, the Transit New Music Festival in Belgium, the International Tanzmesse NRW in Düsseldorf, the Boulder and Minnesota International Fringe Festival of Dance Cinema, the ISIM 3rd Annual Conference, the Erick Hawkins Legacy Forum in New York, the Korea Experiment Arts Festival in Seoul, and the International Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Darmstadt.
In 2003, Randy founded Avant Media, a nonprofit organization dedicated to realizing the singular visions of artists working in time-based media.
