Marketing Communications Manager

15 - 20 hrs/week, flexible hours

 

Garrison Art Center seeks a Marketing Communications Manager to develop, manage, implement and measure communications efforts to increase Garrison Art Center’s brand awareness, attract attendees for its growing program offerings and deepen engagement with key audiences. The position will research market trends, optimize digital marketing platforms, manage media relations, identify advertising initiatives, oversee brand management and design. In coordination with staff and the board, the Communications Manager will set goals and objectives of the annual marketing and communications plan. Garrison Art Center seeks an individual who is passionate about the arts and interested in working in a nonprofit environment.

DUTIES
 

Digital Marketing

  • Manage online communications and engagement for the organization, including developing and executing strategies to build and increase targeted audience size and engagement;

  • Liaise with staff to produce email marketing initiatives;

  • Collaborate with ED and development team to develop and generate digital fundraising initiatives;

 

Website Management

  • Liaise with staff to produce content for the website, including copy, images and video

  • Monitor website and work with Program Assistant ensure its accuracy

Media Relations

  • Liaise with staff to develop content and manage the production of media kits and press releases;

  • Identify and cultivate relations with media contacts and manage Garrison Art Center’s media presence;

  • Maintain good overall press relations and target important existing and new media outlets

Social Media Engagement

  • With support from staff, create content for, and manage Garrison Art Center’s social media platforms;

  • Develop social media ad campaigns to broaden and diversify the audience

  • Use social media as a marketing tool for the organization

Advertising and Print Collateral

  • Maintain and track distributed promotional materials;

  • Create and implement advertising schedule and campaigns;

  • Design ads for digital and print outlets, or work with organization graphic designer to produce ads

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Google analytics and social media performance to identify audience engagement and development;

  • Develop and monitor department PR & Marketing budget;

  • Develop and present communications updates to key stakeholders such as the Board, Committees and Staff;

  • Perform any other communications related duties or special projects as directed by Executive Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a marketing or communications capacity, media relations, and/or social media

  • Must have a passion for the arts

  • Superb and compelling written and oral communication skills

  • Familiarity with a broad spectrum of social media

  • Experience with social media advertising tools

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and groups from within the organization and externally

  • Strong editing and proofreading skills

  • Basic graphic design skills, photography, videography, photo/video editing skills a plus

  • Knowledge of digital fundraising and marketing preferred

  • Ability to develop and monitor departmental budgets

  • Knowledge of communication standards and practices

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
