CALL FOR YOUNG ARTISTS – LET'S GET 2021 MOVING!
Garrison Art Center announces ArtQUAKE – our first ever exhibition of kinetic works and optical art. In addition to a juried call for adults, we welcome young artists, ages 5-17, to submit one work that moves naturally, is human powered, or gives the illusion of movement via optical illusion. To learn more about making a kinetic or optical work see links below or sign up for a "Make it Move" workshop with teaching artist Candace Winter.
Youth works will be on exhibition May 8-16 in our drawing studio/gallery concurrent with ArtQUAKE adult juried show in our main galleries. Learn more about the call for adult artists here.

MAKE IT MOVE! KINETIC ART IDEAS FOR ALL
Candace Winter

$35 ages 8-88
In this fun freeform class inspired by Alexander Calder’s Circus, you will be given tools and guidance in how to create kinetic sculptures from recycled and everyday materials. Make paper springs or a balance sculpture, mobile or anything you can think of that moves, whether it is from natural forces or “people power”. We will supply a wealth of goodies to work with, possibilities are endless. This challenging way to create is great fun and super satisfying for all ages. Put your thinking art cap on and make it move!
This workshop is open to folks ages 8-88. Children 10 and under need to be joined by an adult who has also registered for the workshop.
PARENTS
We hope you will encourage your young ones to participate. You are welcome to help them get their art moving! This can be a great family project.
Please feel free to email or call with questions.
