FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING FOR WORKING STUDENTS

The Summer Art Institute is a three-week experiential program. It is a total immersion in the making of art, offering artists a full range of facilities, enabling them to develop their creative abilities under the guidance of outstanding artists in the field. Provocative discussions with faculty and visiting artists, field trips, visits to professional studios and the strong encouragement of risk-taking in a congenial environment, free students to explore their ideas without limitations.

A PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The curriculum consists of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and photography. Each participant will advance his/her skills within a core curriculum every morning, periodically engaging in group critiques which allows students to collectively and individually respond to and draw from the skills and insights of others. In the afternoon each student moves into his/her area of concentration for the remainder of the day.
Each applicant will be given a personal interview with faculty and staff at which time he/she will show samples of work and discuss the program more thoroughly. The cost of the three-week full day program is $875. The schedule can be flexible. Tuition will reflect scheduling if students take that option. Limited need-based scholarships are available through GAC's Gillette Scholarship Fund.
