![]() About the Artist |
| Born in Paris, France, to an artistic family, Daisy de Puthod moved to the U.S. via Colorado. In 1975, after graduating from the Colorado Institute of Art, she became a successful commercial artist, illustrating in watercolor or pastel for ad agencies and over 15 publishing houses. In 1988, she relocated to the Hudson River Valley, where she started painting in oils and developed her own style as a fine artist. Daisy is a member of the New York Plein Air Painters Society and The American Impressionist Society. She is an associate member of the Allied Artists and the Audubon Artists Societies. Whether painting her plein-air landscapes or her studio figures and portraits, Daisy loves to work from life. Her contemporary oil paintings are energetic, bold and colorful. Daisy has studied portraiture with internationally acclaimed pastel artists Aaron Shikler, Daniel Greene, and Burt Silverman. In 1994 she received a scholarship award from the Pastel Society of America. She has been a successful commercial artist for over 25 years, illustrating for advertising and publishers, and executing commissioned portraits of people, pets, and residences. Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows throughout Connecticut and the Hudson River Valley. She is currently a member of the Hudson Valley Pastel Society and "Mixed Media." The artist works in graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, pastel and oil. Her style is a mix of realism and impressionism, with a strong emphasis on the use of light. She loves to work from life...always looking for the special moment when a subject comes alive on the paper. |
