CURRENT: A Sculpture Tour
June 1st – August 10th

Garrison Art Center is pleased to invite the entire community to participate in a photography contest celebrating the outdoor sculpture exhibit CURRENT: A Sculpture Tour. The exhibit, including 50 sculptures by 20 different artists may be photographed on the grounds of Boscobel, Manitoga, the Desmond Fish Library, the Cold Spring waterfront and Garrison’s Landing. CURRENT will run from June 1 to August 10; photographers should prepare to submit their entries between July 2 - July 6.

The photography competition will culminate in a weekend exhibition of all photographs at Garrison Art Center on July 19th, 12 – 6 PM and 20th from 12 – 5 PM. There will be a reception on July 19th from 4 - 6 PM for all the photographers, their families and friends, as well as the sculptors whose work has been photographed. Honors will be awarded and photographs may be sold for the benefit of the GAC Scholarship Fund.

The Juror for the CURRENT Photo Competition will be Ion Zupcu, a Romanian born photographer who is represented by several galleries: ClampArt in NYC, Studio 391 in Galela CA, the Lexington Gallery in Virginia, Hooper’s Gallery in London, Candace Perich Gallery in Katonah, and many more. His newest body of work will open at the Woodstock Photographic Center on June 28th. His work has been purchased by many museums, nationally and internationally. Zupcu has been reviewed by the New York Times among other publications, and has been featured in Lenswork Magazine, B&W, Fotomagazine and others.

Chronogram Magazine recently wrote of Mr.Zupcu’s work: “The careful attention to detail, immaculate gelatin-silver printing, and very organized, aesthetically sensitive approach to his subject evident in this series are qualities that carry over to all of his fine art work as well, including his most recent series, Works on Paper. Ion Zupcu is also a master wedding photographer. His wedding work can be seen at www.zupcuphotography.com, and his fine art work at www.ionzupcu.ro.
