Matthew Zappala
|
Matthew Zappala received his BA and MFA from Queens College and has devoted the lion's share of his life to educating young people. For 32 years Zappala taught middle school children. Now in his early retirement Zappala is thrilled to be making his own art. He began as a printmaker, specializing in woodcuts which allowed a very natural segue to his wooden crow series. "Crows in a Meadow" are made of pressure treated wood and painted. "They perch on posts, and you can almost hear them chatter." Zappala shows his work primarily in the Northeast and will be included this summer in an exhibition at the Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. | |
