James Murray  www.james-h-murray.com				Born in Brooklyn and graduating from the School of Visual arts in 1975 James Murray continues his life long pursuit of building sculpture. His work is a blend of material and technique using direct carving in stone and wood, casting in bronze and welding in steel and aluminum. His approach to field and garden sculpture is a partnership with the landscape. Materials used in field sculpture are rough-hewn timber, found objects, steel and stone. There is a close attachment with environment and sculpture. Murray continues this pursuit in his studios in Martha's Vineyard and the Hudson Valley.
