Ann Johnston Miller
|
Ann Johnston Miller has been making art for 35 years specializing in ceramic and metal sculpture. Her ceramic forms are hand built slab construction. Miller makes her own glazes, and pieces are fired at 2100 degrees F in a gas kiln with reduction atmosphere in which the air is decreased in the kiln chamber creating a lack of oxygen so that the oxides are pulled from the clay and glazes creating pleasing colors. "My sculpture reflects my personal observation and interpretation of the natural world as I strive toward the expression of space-form relationships that evoke the energy and tension of existence."
