School Invitational Theme Exhibition
Each year GAC recognizes the rich, imaginative art of young people and the talent and commitment of their arts teachers with a School Invitational Theme Show. When these exhibitions were initiated in 1993, the theme was conceived as a uniting, creative source for all participants to explore. Over the past eight years, GAC's School Invitational Theme Shows have grown to include 23 schools.
1998"s "Touched by Matisse" involved over 18 schools (works by over 750 students): 1999'S program "Calder in Motion" involved over 20 schools (works by over 1000 students.) Spring 2000's show, "Art's Around Us: Celebrating 20th Century American Landscape" ran for a full month, using both indoor and outdoor exhibition space.
The School Invitational Theme Show offers an opportunity for young artists and their teachers to immerse themselves in nature and design as a spring board for their own discoveries and creative development, to see their works in beautiful, professionally lit galleries, with show announcements and an art opening.
