A small farmstead outside Kennebunkport, ME. Northern New England farms area unique in that they are attached to the houses, testifying to the severe winters. This was a comforting scene to me, a place where I could spend some quiet time.

A Gloucester, MA scene, replayed countless times as men in their fragile boats move once again to harvest the sea. There is a feeling of determined movement across a placid morning harbor, with the unknown sea waiting just out of the picture to the left.

I wanted to capture the fleeting delicate touch of an early frost, just before the morning sun burns it off. Painted near Stanfordville, NY.

For me, the bales represent stored energy, basking in the sunshine of June and promising survival through the long winter.

This painting was painted in Gloucester, part of the Lobster Fleet that calls Gloucester Harbor home.

Painted from sketches and photos made in Stonington, CT. The artist has great respect for the hard working people who make their livelihood from the sea.

Two old trawlers, rare wooden boats still working the sea, were resting along the dock at Gloucester. The old building on the dock has since burned.
