 Artist Statement |
| A bench at river's edge silently standing guard over winter ice floes...that fleeting time of day when evening settles upon us like a comfortable blanket of muted hues and hushed light..a sweeping view of the magnificent Hudson River Highlands in soft autumn light... One of the basic reasons for art is it invites the artist and the viewer to pay attention to evocative and meaningful aspects of the daily landscape that are often overlooked. I accomplish this by painting on location in all kinds of weather and times of day. Ultimately, I think the atmosphere is the most important aspect of any landscape. Through it, I express emotion. I continually try new approaches with different color relationships and fresh visual images. The paintings I create offer a synergy of image and emotion that inspire, instruct and impress. |
