| Bonnie Case has completed a series of 4" x 6" watercolor paintings which reflect a lifelong interest and pleasure in food, cooking, and gardening in combination with patterns found on tiles, ceramics and textile designs. American Artist magazine featured her paintings in an article written by artist/writer John Parks, who states, "Bonnie Case's small watercolors feel like snapshots of life as it was meant to be -- rich, engaging, pleasurable and full of all things good." After completing undergraduate art studies at San Francisco State University and continuing graduate work for an MFA at Syracuse University, she began to exhibit her "Art to Wear" in numerous galleries, including Julie: Artisans' Gallery in New York City. Case founded and ran a highly successful fashion knitwear company with the labels of "Bonnie Case" and "Case and Co," designing sweaters regularly featured in magazines such as "Vogue" and "Elle." For many years they were sold in Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barney's, and were worn frequently by cast members of Melrose Place, Friends, and The Love Boat. Case's sweaters were also featured on an Oprah Winfrey fashion show. Originally from New York, the artist now lives in Delray Beach, Florida, where she is excitedly collecting tropical plants, unusual seaweeds, and exotic fruits from local markets. Case counts Henri Matisse, Pierre Bonnard, and Raoul Dufy -- painters who also celebrate the blissful realms of color and pattern -- among her influences, and she is planning a trip to Europe to study more French painting. |
